More often than not, everybody at some point in time gets a mild headache or a severe migraine.
Sometimes, other complications arise, leading to slow days when such pain is unbearable. Despite this, there are a couple of remedies or cures people can use to get rid of the pain that are considered the best cure for headache.
Some migraine cures are found in our daily diets. A common example is caffeine, usually found in beverages such as coffee and tea. However, these foods need to be used carefully and not in excess to an extent that they may cause addiction.
Another dietary cure to migraines is taking a lot of water. Dehydration is caused by excess exposure to the sun which leads to sweating or it is at times caused by excess consumption of alcohol. Drink small sips of warm water throughout the day till a two liter target is reached.
There are other oils that can be used together with food or water like lavender and peppermint oils. One needs to add a few drops, usually two to four drops to boiling water and inhale the vapor. One can also apply lavender or peppermint oils externally on the head temple without diluting them.
Non Dietary Cures
Non dietary cures can be classified into two categories. To begin with, there are medicines which are commonly used to cure headaches. Over the counter drugs such as Paracetamol and Aspirins are used in relieving pains; however, they take longer to get rid of pains and may lead to rebound head pains. Care must be observed when using such medication to avoid recurrent migraines.
“Do it yourself massages” come in handy when curing pains. However, most of them are used in treating minor tension pains in the head. When massaging the head, remember to touch on the sensitive part for exam0ple the occipital nerve. Occipital nerve is located behind the head just after the skull and is great in giving neck reflexes.
After massaging, try to relax in quiet and low lit room and go ahead and lie for about a half hour focusing on your breathing. This aids in sensory reduction leading to healing and relaxation. Remember not to increase much tension on the head and neck, hence find a good pillow for even support.
In the long run, if the headache becomes consistent, it may be a symptom for serious complication such as stroke, characterized by signs such as high fever, faints and nausea. It is therefore advisable for one to seek medical attention from a qualified physician. If the condition is not chronic, then the above remedies are among the best cure for headache and you can use them to relieve the pain.
