Representing consumer interests in Minnesota through:
Membership on the State Advisory Council, Local Advisory Councils, and Initiative
Administrative Boards.
Helping to insure passage of the Mental Health Act 2001 in collaboration with over two
dozen other mental health organization members of the Legislative Network.
Working through group advocacy, information and referral, action and public speaking
to reduce the terrifying effects of the stigma of mental illness.
Membership on the Minnesota Mental Health Action Group.
Representing consumer interests beyond Minnesota: CSN consumers presented programs on Warmlines, and the CSN Consumer Survey 2000 at the
2000 Alternatives conference. CSN consumers met with CMHS in Chicago to discuss consumer concerns and to highlight
CSN activities. CSN consumers participated in the Consumer Partnership Platform for Change,
a national consumer forum hosted by the NAMI Consumer Council. CSN is a participating member of the National Association of Consumer/Survivor
Mental Health Administrators.
Supporting five Warmlines:
Marshall Regional Resource center funded by a CSN Self Help grant, a
Consumer Network grant, and the SW 18 Initiative.
Arrowhead Warmline in Duluth, funded partly through St. Louis County.
“We Made It” Warmline funded in total by Region IV South Mental Health Initiative.
Metro Twin Cities Warmline funded through a CSN Self-Help grant.
Rochester Area Warmline, a venture between CSN and Olmsted NAMI..
Providing cooperative training and technical assistance to a Peer Mentoring Program
in St. Cloud funded through the COMMunity Initiative and Centracare.
